Please contact us using <a href=\"https:\/\/kodokankendo.uk\/index.php\/115-2\/\">contact form<\/a> or email <a href=\"mailto:info.kodokan@yahoo.com\">info.kodokan@yahoo.com<\/a> if you are interested to join.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Membership Fees (from 2026)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you decide to join after the induction course, costs are as follows,<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Adult monthly membership fee is <strong>\u00a365<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Student membership is <strong>\u00a355<\/strong>\u00a0per month<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Joint Adult membership where members are from the same family is <strong>\u00a355<\/strong>\u00a0for each person<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Please note that if you only practise once a month or less, then the monthly membership fees remain the same.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Monthly membership payments are accepted by bank direct debit or standing order only.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Visitors<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Visitors are always welcome, but please notify us in advance of your intended visit. The visitors&#8217; fee is \u00a37 per session, if however you attend for 3 consecutive sessions and intend to practice further, then you will be required to join the club as a regular member.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Private Tuition<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Private tuition can also be arranged, prices are available by request.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Your membership includes an Introductory booklet, club tenugui, do kamon (badge), usage of club armour is also available and there are no charges for club gradings (up to 2nd kyu).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">At Kodokan we operate a kyu grade system at club level: beginners and intermediary, Adults from 7th Kyu to 2nd Kyu. This consists of learning the fundamentals of shinai and bokuto, practising kata, uchikomi-geiko and Bokuto Ni Yoru Kendo Kihon-waza Keiko-ho, a method for teaching basics developed in Japan utilising a bokuto in shinai techniques. There is an explanation <a href=\"http:\/\/kodokankendo.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Bokuto-ni-yoru-kihon-keiko-ho.pdf\" rel=\"attachment noopener wp-att-510\" target=\"_blank\">The Kihon Keiko Ho<\/a> written by Paul Budden sensei.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To take part in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britishkendoassociation.com\/\">British Kendo Association<\/a> (BKA) events &#8211; seminars, competitions and grading &#8211; examinations 1st kyu to 5th Dan, Kodokan members are required to be registered members of the BKA (details on how to join are available on request).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For levels: 1st Kyu and above (Dan grades)\u00a0The BKA National grading level applies and\u00a0the syllabus be found on their website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britishkendoassociation.com\/grading-requirements\/\">here<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A booklet written by Holt sensei of the Mumeishi Kendo Club is of valuable assistance to &#8216;Beginners&#8217;
